Mr. Gont. 17" fort
Meeting with Mr. Burney tomorrow
I am very sorry that owing to a long-
standing committee engagement it is quite
impossible for me to attend.
You will perhaps be able to draw his
attention to the constitution of the Board of
Education with reference to my minute of
4.12 below.
He has already, I think, been given the
latest Annual Report of the Department and the
latest green Colonial Report. If he feels,
as we do, that the form and content of the
Education Report are unsatisfactory he might
ask the Director of Education to show him
the suggestions made by the Advisory Committee
on Education in the Colonies regarding the
form and content which have so far not re-
ceived enough attention in Hong Kong.
I send with this the 1933 Year Book
of Education which contains a most useful
account of Hong Kong education written by
Forster, Professor of Education in Hong Kong
University. It is far better than anything
given in the Annual Report and contains also
information about the University. If Mr.
Burney would care to take this with him it
can be lent to him if he would like to have
it on the voyage but ofcourse we should be
glad to have it back when he returns as it is
our only copy. It has some other articles
